WELCOME TO THE CLUB!

Fancy Dinner Club began in 2013, as an excuse for longtime friends to keep in touch and discover the great food in the Twin Cities. Once a month we gather, we laugh, and we eat. As the years have gone by and our lives have changed with marriages, kids, new careers, and cross-country moves, so has FDC. Not only do we want to continue enjoying the food and friendship that has sustained us so far, we’re creating content of all kinds to support this fantastic local food scene. Food should be fun, which is why our archive is filled with gifs, puns, and a healthy dose of Taco Bell. If you want in on the action, or just want to show us some love, shoot us an email or slide into our DMs. We’d love to hear from you!

SECOND HELPINGS

Dish of the Week: California Burrito

Chef Ben Allen took inspiration for his popup restaurant, El Norte Kitchen, from his time spent in New Mexico. It's yet another flavormobile barreling headfirst into the suddenly crowded southern border...

Dish of the Week: The RøYK

Norseman Distillery makes some fantastic cocktails. This was my second time there, and like that famous Confucian nugget goes: first is the worst, but second is the best (third has either...

FDC Supplemental: European Taste Experience!

Did you know there is a European Taste Experience backed by the European Union? Me either! Even cooler, they have a presence in the US and they wanted yours truly...

FDC 54: Northstar Tavern

Here at Fancy Dinner Club, we love food.  We love farm-to-table, chef-driven places that get tons of buzz and that you need to get a reservation months in advance and...

Dish of the Week: Rise Bagel

Recently, we ran a taste test in conjunction with TC Jewfolk to determine the best bagel in the Twin Cities. We scored bagels from seven places based on look, crust, chew,...

Dish of the Week: The Lowry Steak Salad

This isn't a salad, it's a farm. It has wheat, starch, vegetables, fruit, and livestock -- and enough of it all to feed a family of four. Or a Bradley...

Dish of the Week: Matt’s Double Cheeseburger

WHOA! Before all the hate mail comes in, this is not a knock on Lucy. She is still very much Jucy, and in fact what I usually get at Matt's...

Dish of the Week: Animales Barbecue

This week was an easy call. Partly because, between traveling and eating planet snacks to save money from traveling, I didn't eat out much this week. But also because Animales...

Dish of the Week: Republic Fries

Let's talk about fries, children. I've had them in all types: French, curly, home, shoestring, "chips," crinkle cut, steak cut, waffle. I've had them with ketchup, mayo, barbecue sauce, yum...

Dish of the Week: Jalapeño Popper

You're gonna like All Square. They do gourmet grilled cheese -- which, ok fine -- but almost their full staff consists of formerly incarcerated individuals, meaning the people who took...

Dish of the Week: MN State Fair

Our dish of the week is the State Fair as a whole because how do you pick just one item? Personally, I have two favorites, neither of which are revolutionary,...

Dish of the Week: Beef Skewer Rice Bowl

This is a surprise, even for me. The best thing I ate this week was the beef skewer rice bowl at the Andrew Zimmern Canteen at Target Field. I visit...
