FDC #36 Pizzeria Lola

lola-interior

Pizzeria Lola wood-fire oven and must-have disco ball.

(music plays, to the tune of “Copacabana”)

Her name was Lola, a pizzeria,
With copper oven in the room and a disco ball up there.
She would cook pizzas, like Lady ZaZa,
And while she’ll cause all jaws to drop,
She also is a Pokestop.
Good smells reach to the floor, should we get 8? No, 4.
They were warm and they had such flavor,
Who could ask for more?

[Chorus]
At the Lola (Lo!) ‘la Pizzeria (‘la Pizzeria)
The hottest spot north of Edina (here)
At the Lola (Lo!) ‘la Pizzeria,
Wood-fired pizzas were always their passion
At the Lola… we left so full…

zoodles

Zoodles, not really noodles – an im*pasta*or (sorry, that was so bad).

The app was zoodles,
Zucchini noodles.
They are way more fun to eat than a salad – quite a feat.
It’s really simple, and not too filling.
You’ll trick your brain that they’re veggies,
Hidden by rich parmesan cheese.
Doubtful this app survives,
Before the ‘za arrives.
Just oodles and oodles of zoodles,
Who could ask for more?

[Repeat Chorus]

lola-all-four

All the ‘zas (clockwise from bottom right: Xerxes, Fig and Prosciutto, Korean BBQ, and Sunnyside) and Matt trying to catch a Drowzee.

The ‘za was Xerxes,
It had these almonds,
They provided such a crunch with kalamatas by the bunch.
And with some spinach, and cheese all over,
Good Lola didn’t stray too far,
With drink selections from the bar.
And then our taste buds knew,
and happy stomachs grew,
There were shouts then a captured Drowzee,
Who could ask for more?

[Repeat Chorus]

koreanbbq

Korean BBQ – a must.

The ‘za had short ribs,
Korean short ribs.
With piles of arugula and soy vinaigrette so fine.
A well-known favorite, and for good reason,
And while you’ll try to be restrained,
This pizza just can’t be contained.
You really can’t stop by,
Without trying this pie.
It’s so unique and pizza perfection,
Who could ask for more?

[Repeat Chorus]

sunnyside

Sunnyside – eggceptional. Had to be said and, more importantly, eaten.

The ‘za Sunnyside,
Was topped by big eggs.
And while that might cause you to shriek we’re not done there’s also leeks.
But here’s what’s funny, it really tastes great.
It’s just a gooey breakfast pie,
With yokes that point up to the sky.
It’s cheesy and eggy,
Brinner for you and me,
It’s an omelette that’s baked on a crust,
Who could ask for more?

[Repeat Chorus]

fig-prosciutto

The special at the time – Fig and Prosciutto.

This ‘za was special,
Fig and prosciutto.
It had bleu cheese all in between and some stringy micro-greens.
I had a few doubts, that this would taste good.
Then I calmly took a bite,
Chalk up one more Lola delight.
That makes her 4 for 4,
On ‘zas we all adore,
They might just serve the best pizza in town,
Who could ask for more?

[Repeat Chorus]

icecreamsandwich

Custom open-faced ice cream sandwich, not one of my better ideas.

Dessert was ice cream,
Soft serve with cookies.
I made an open-faced sandwich which hit my teeth and made me twitch.
That was my own fault, I wasn’t thinking,
Then my brain freeze went away,
As we got ready to pay.
An ending rich and sweet,
Post-‘zas that can’t be beat,
We’ll be back – can’t wait for Young Joni’s!
Who could ask for more?

At the Lola (Lo!) ‘la Pizzeria (‘la Pizzeria)
The hottest spot north of Edina (here)
At the Lola (Lo!) ‘la Pizzeria,
Wood-fired pizzas were always their passion
At the Lola… we left so full…

We left so full…
